MacDailyNews Take: Again, we’ll hold off a bit to make sure there’s nothing else included, if you know what we mean.

That’s right, Apple brass, we now have trust issues that are entirely of your own making. Smart users will be more circumspect, which doesn’t bode well for the macOS adoption rate going forward.

  1. I’ll be honest; I went through System 7, 8.5, 9, went through OS X, and this current transition has been the biggest cluster**** I have ever been through with Apple. By all appearances, their current engineers appear to be idiots of the non-savant variety, and I do not know how Tim Cook could hope to redeem himself. Hope his riches make him happy. He has BOTH single-handedly and by proxy destroyed one of the best companies on earth. Linux or Windows instead is not a choice. Silicon Valley is pretty much done. Enjoy the rest of the world dusting your immature a****. Because that is the future. Profits tend to follow.

    1. I started off with OS6x and went all the way through to Mojave and stopped! I just couldn’t see a reason to go through the “are there or aren’t there replacements” for my 32 bit software. A lot of the 32 bit games I own are irreplaceable.

As for new Macs I’m just not going down that path as well. Apple has shut me out of there Mac ecosystem and as far as I’m concerned it’s a mutual divorce. I don’t use Windows and will never use it as a desktop operating system but likewise I’ve had it with Apple. They’re just another rapacious company and I’ll be damned if I’m going to contribute one cent towards this misguided outfit.

  2. I have absolutely nothing to hide, unlike many others apparently – so honestly have no issue installing Apple Software updates, plus Google, Facebook and many other tech companies have been following all of us and selling our information for decades, DON’T hear you babies incessantly complaining about that ?

    1. “I have absolutely nothing to hide, bla bla bla…”

Would you consent to a cavity search in public? I can’t imagine that any self-respecting person would not have a line drawn in the sand somewhere.

  3. “I have nothing to hide.” No offense meant, but that’s the simpleton’s response when hearing companies, or the authorities are sniffing out their customers, or the public.

All is, apparently, copestetsic if/when the companies/authorities are on your side. History shows your “trusted sources” are likely to change and one might find hiding something is in your best interest.

What doesn’t ever change is the human’s right to privacy and ownership of personal info…ever.

    1. I love how absolutely NO ONE will address my comments about being tracked by Google, Facebook, others for years and years with their information being sold for profit – instead make some ridiculous insult about me – so typical regarding most individuals intellect, cannot have a healthy discussion without getting personally attacked.

      1. Never used facebook, don’t use google, or any other social media though I’m sure they collect stuff indirectly. You started the personal attacks by calling people babies and you continue them with trying to insult peoples intellect. If you throw stones someone will usually throw back. We’ll all get over it.

      2. “I love how absolutely NO ONE will address my comments about being tracked by Google, Facebook, bla bla bla…”

I’ll address your comments. I, too, have nothing to do with Google, Facebook, and others.

  4. I stopped using FB over 10 yrs ago because of privacy concerns and b/c it was a valuable time drain. Per Google, I use search and YT…hesitatingly because there’s nothing close in performance.
I will not use gmail, or other Google tools that are where G scrapes real info from users.

The difference is; I despise G and FB and know if/when I use G, I limit my info. Does this “clear me” to be critical of Apple? No, not necessarily, but I know GOOG sucks and am ready to jump ship immediately. The difference; AAPL has long touted its walled garden and is the safest and heavy-handed glomming-on for info to sell/pervert, has never been at the forefront…at least up until the present day.

So, complaining fervently about AAPL in this realm makes sense because the contrast is stark and customers are losing (seemingly) the safest harbor in the personal tech realm. Neither G or FB have claimed anything close.

“Personally attacked?” Please. Time to grow a skin and enter in to the discussion without it being personal. It would be good to acknowledge your own words from which the discussion was propelled…

“I have absolutely nothing to hide…have no issue installing Apple Software updates, plus Google, Facebook and many other tech companies have been following all of us…”

    1. With a statement like that, please explain why, with loads of wires, CC payments online, moving funds to various platforms and banks, my funds have arrived without issues?

I’m not saying I’m impervious, but such a comprehensive claim is bravo sierra…unless the criminals are merely being kind, or only tap those sending millions.

  5. We’ve seen the overall quality of macOS software go down the toilet because of two people:

    Chief Clown Office Craig Federgicci
    Chief SJW Tom Cook

It’s an embarrassment to the legacy of Steve.
