Last week, Siri leaked the date and time of the upcoming Apple event. And this wasn’t the first time Apple’s own virtual assistant told the world about an upcoming event before the official announcement.
So step back Jon Prosser. Stand aside Mark Gurman. Siri is now the most accurate Apple leaker.
The honor was awarded by AppleTrack, which monitors the accuracy of tipsters revealing unannounced info about the iPhone-maker. Apple’s virtual assistant now has a 100% record. That puts it at the top of the list.
And that rating doesn’t even take into account the time Siri revealed to the world the date and location of the 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference.
Siri keeps jumping the gun
On the morning of April 13, 2021, Siri began telling people who asked “When is the next Apple event?” that it will be held on April 20. A few hours later, Apple revealed that there is indeed going to be an event on that day.
The same thing happened back in 2016. In mid-April of that year, anyone who asked Siri “When is WWDC 2016?” was told that it would be June 13 to 17. Apple soon confirmed those dates with an official announcement.
Siri’s 100% accuracy rating on AppleTrack puts her ahead of Ming-Chi Kuo (76.6%), Prosser (78.2%) and Gurman (89.1%). It even surpasses Kang (97%).
Could be we don’t need any of those people anymore. Perhaps people should start regularly asking Siri questions like, “When is the next iPad Pro going to be released?” And “Will we see an iMac with an M1 processor at the April 20 event?”
Apple’s virtual assistant is known for being chipper but not very smart. It’s nice to see its lack of intelligence is occasionally useful.
