EDITING MESSAGES

6 months ago, we finally posted the first news about the ability to edit messages on WhatsApp beta for Android, a feature under development. We also discovered the same feature during the development of WhatsApp Desktop beta two months ago and we have finally news about the iOS app today. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.73 update available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on bringing the same feature for a future update of the iOS beta app!

As you can see in this screenshot, the edit message action shows up within the context menu when the feature will be released in a future update of the app. All edited messages will be marked with the “Edited” label within the chat bubble. In addition, WhatsApp will offer users up to 15 minutes to edit their text messages after being sent. Since this is the first version of editing messages, it will only be possible to edit text messages because editing the caption for images, videos, and documents, is not currently supported but we can expect an improved version of the feature before the release.

The ability to edit messages will be released in a future update of the app to some beta testers. Since this feature is under development, we do not have a release date for the feature but we’re going to publish an article on this website when it is available.
