Windows 11’s first big update “version 22H2”, officially released on September 20, offers a variety of enhancements to key features in the OS. For example, Windows 11 version 22H2 brings folder support to the Start menu and allows you to adjust the size of pinned icons or recommended activities.
It also enables support for “drag and drop” on the taskbar, allowing users to drop files to apps via the taskbar easily. Other features include tabs support in File Explorer, a new sidebar in File Explorer, actionable suggestions, new layouts for snapping windows, Microsoft account deeper integration in Settings, and more.
Windows 11 version 22H2’s nifty change is the ability to adjust system volume using the scroll wheel. While it’s already possible to adjust the volume using your mouse if it supports media mode, Windows 11 22H2 new feature means you can control your PC’s volume via the mouse wheel of any mouse.
This is a handy feature and it was added to Windows 11 with Build 22478 in September of 2021, and later shipped to the consumers with the 2022 feature update.
As you can see in the above video, you can simply scroll through your mouse wheel on the volume icon in the Taskbar to change the volume level.
It’s one of the undocumented changes in the Windows 11 22H2 update and it can be tested on any device as long as you’ve access to a scroll wheel.
Windows 11 22H2 to get more features soon
Microsoft is preparing several “Moment” updates for the operating system. For those unfamiliar, “Moment” is the internal codename for larger cumulative updates delivered outside of the annual releases.
Back in the old days, you’d be waiting for the fall update for any significant changes to the OS. With Windows 11, Microsoft wants to introduce new features every few months.
For example, the first Moment update added tabs and a sidebar to File Explorer. The next Moment update is expected to introduce additional improvements and it’s scheduled to ship sometime in February or March.
The third-moment update might arrive in May 2023 and we don’t really know what’s coming in the update, but we’ve seen references to “seconds on taskbar clock” support in one of the latest updates. It’s possible that the future Moment update will add this feature to Windows 11 22H2.
Microsoft is also believed to be working on improvements for the Task Manager which could show up in Moment 3 or Moment 4 updates.
