WhatsApp is announcing the ability to undo “delete for me” on WhatsApp for iOS and Android
After publishing an overview of new features for voice and video calls released this year, WhatsApp is now announcing a feature that lets users retrieve a message deleted by mistake on WhatsApp for iOS, Android, and Desktop!

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.18.73 update, we posted news about a new feature available to some beta testers: the ability to undo “delete for me” for a few seconds. Thanks to this feature, it is easy for you to retrieve messages deleted by mistake when you use “delete for me”. Thanks to the recent announcement by WhatsApp and Will Cathcart on Twitter, this feature is even more official than before since it is finally available for everyone!
As you can see in this screenshot, the undo button is the perfect solution when you delete a message for you and your first intention was to delete it for everyone: every time you delete a message for you, a snackbar shows up with the “undo” button. In case you deleted the message for you by mistake, you have a few seconds to use the undo action to retrieve your deleted message.
Note that, even if this screenshot is taken from WhatsApp for Android, the same feature is also available on WhatsApp Desktop and WhatsApp for iOS, as mentioned within the official changelog of the WhatsApp for iOS 22.19.75 update released on the App Store.
The ability to undo “delete for me” is available to all users on WhatsApp for iOS, Android, and Desktop. Be sure to install the most updated version available on the store in order to get the feature.
