At the end of October, we posted news about some improvements for sending messages to yourself on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS. In reality, it has always been possible to send messages to your own phone number but you had to use click to WhatsApp to open the chat on WhatsApp beta for Android. Finally, WhatsApp is releasing this feature to some beta testers today:
As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is making it easier to open the chat with your own phone number: just open your contacts list to see if the feature is already available for you. If the feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account, you can now open the chat with your own phone number right within your contacts list.
In addition, there are further details about sending messages to the chat with your own phone number:
- As mentioned in the previous article about the improvements for sending messages to yourself, your own chat and the messages that you send to yourself finally show up on all your linked devices for quite some time.
- Some iOS beta users may receive the same feature as well today. There may be an announcement when the rollout is wider for more iOS beta testers where you can find some additional details.
The ability to open the chat with your own phone number right within your contacts list has been released to some beta testers and it is rolling out to more users over the coming days.
