WhatsApp is working on supporting captions for documents
A new feature for WhatsApp is coming. After revealing that WhatsApp is developing a group icon editor on WhatsApp Desktop, we can now announce that the company is working on letting users add a caption for their shared documents in a future update of WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and Desktop!

After releasing a feature that lets people share documents up to 2GB in size, WhatsApp is now working on some improvements for documents. In particular, the company is planning to let users add a caption for documents before sharing them:
As you can see in this screenshot, the feature is currently under development on WhatsApp Desktop beta. When sharing a document, it will be possible to add a caption, so it is also easier to find a certain document if you remember its caption. The interface is the same than the one we see when sharing a media, so there is a text field where the user can enter the caption.
Note that, even if the screenshot is taken during the development of WhatsApp Desktop beta, WhatsApp is planning to introduce the same feature in a future update of WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS.
Unfortunately, this feature is under development so we don’t know the details about when it will be released to beta testers. An article will be published on this website when further details are available.
