What an exciting project for our company in the U.S. Today Volkswagen AG announced the plan to launch an all-electric rugged SUV and pick-up for our American customers. Start of production will be in 2026.   Success in the SUV & pick-up segment is key for further profitable growth in the U.S. And now we have a unique opportunity for market entry.   The size of the full-size segment gives us the opportunity to achieve higher unit sales with a small number of models. This offers additional return opportunities.   The company we will establish this year will be a separate unit and brand within the Volkswagen Group to be managed independently. This aligns with the new Group steering model - small units that act agilely and have access to our tech platforms to leverage synergies.

The strong heritage and eager fan base for the Scout brand are undeniable. International could not sustain light vehicle production as a commercial vehicle manufacturer, but with International now part of the TRATON Group, we have the resources of one of the world’s largest automotive enterprises behind us. So exciting to learn of the approval for launching Scout as a new brand within the family!

Arno: Will this group then have a separate 200,000 EV income-tax credits, or will those be considered part of the overall VW Group's allocation?

Arno Antlitz bold move, but isn’t 2026 too late compared to your US competition? Will it be based on MEB or SSP platform?

Bring it to Europe as well! I see lots more pick up trucks than before! And we all want to live more outdoors after all the lockdowns!

A more sensible approach would be moving away from oversized SUVs and trucks for city use, whether gasoline or battery. We still quite don't get it, uh ?

The best part of the post - Operating Model…:separate unit -agile and leverage tech platforms A dual operating model is built on 1/ management system/leadership system 2/ organisation 3/ processes 4/ talent & skills 5/ data & tech There is a chance that new EV units become a role model for the rest, if systematically engaged, dialogued etc If not, plan B a TROJAN horse…to change Or if it fails, a huge drawback for the overall transformation —-> think ecosystem play as a bigger or next lever
