      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Though The Morning Show at times feels more like a vanity project than the hard-hitting drama it aspires to be, there is pleasure to be had in watching Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon give it their all.

Babs Somehow I made it through season one but it was draining…. Not surprising given the cast Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review Peter B Great writing keeps this show flowing. Reese is fantastic but Jennifer is still Rachel from Friends - just older. All up a brilliant watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/24 Full Review Kim S Buen elenco, trama y actuaciones. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/24 Full Review Melissa R I can't believe how long the episodes are considering how nothing of interest happens besides an out of pocket plot twist that's so crassly done I almost had to call it quits. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/11/23 Full Review Jennifer R Eh. Love the acting, specifically Carell but the dialogue is so-so. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/03/23 Full Review Alex P Unfortunately, I have nothing good to say about this show, because it is all about abuse. It depicts the current state of affairs with journalism as a mix of inquisition, brothel, and hypocrisy. All they internally care about is how to channel the chaos and abuse viewers' attention so their ratings would not tumble. What is the moral of the story? There is no moral in the story, making it not watchable, because if you watch it your brain becomes a malleable mass of neurons; you are less of a human, just like all the characters in the show. All of them are as if in some prison of combined goals that do not belong to the same time continuum. They all speak about career path, and the sacrifices they make, while not seeing that they are rotten to the bones in every aspect that makes a person human, with one goal, to protect some TV show that is making money by constantly lying and pretending. No, new kids of this world, success is unrelated to how rotten your soul is. Regarding storytelling, those opposites: faking everything for the sake of viewers believing they live in an extremely moral world, yet personally doing things that are opposite is nauseating to watch and follow. It is all a devil in human flesh and for that, the show is not watchable. Each character is telling the same story: if I am to earn this much money I have no other option, I have to fight all this and try not to die. Why? Because earning money is going to give you a place in paradise, right? Because American society has become a Greek mythology where gods, because they are gods do not have to answer to anyone, except another God, and as soon as you become insanely rich you have become a god, right? What I am saying is that the entire show is flat. Each character wears different clothes but they are all one and the same person, maybe they differ in the level of hell they have reached so far. It starts promising and then it just talks too many voices at the same time (and from the same person), forcing you to accept all of that, moral... immoral... casually moral... and while interesting for 30 minutes, it just does not go anywhere and it is basically spoiling your brain. Indeed, the situation in journalism IS very much as described in the show, that much I believe, but I do not like watching reality shows at all pretending to be something else. The show is essentially teaching you that success is about initially having quality and then pretending that you have it for the rest of your life. I am sure society has become similar to that these days, but that is not watchable in the form of a TV show convincing you that humanity will advance for it. It will not. So the show is Rotten. Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic It has no consistency, no singular ambition or particular thing to say. Dec 23, 2019 Full Review Inkoo Kang Slate Glossy and expensive, the series is a giant, faultlessly tasteful gift box filled mostly with packing peanuts. Dec 19, 2019 Full Review Wenlei Ma News.com.au Even when its execution is sometimes wobbly, you never mistake its ambition. It's pacy, brash and compulsive - which all adds up to something worth sticking around for.
